The election results of the two-phased poll held between January and April 2021 were announced on Friday by Chief Election Commissioner of the CTA Wangdu Tsering at Dharamshala.
Sources said Tsering polled 34,324 votes while Aukatsang polled 28,907 votes.
Tsering ,who is also called as “Sikyong”, will be second democratically elected head of the CTA replacing incumbent Dr Lobsang Sangay, who has completed his two terms. ....

Penpa Tsering emerges frontrunner in first round of elections for post of Sikyong

Former Speaker of Tibetan Parliament in exile Penpa Tsering emerged as frontrunner in preliminary round of the elections held for the post president (Sikyong) of Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) also known as Tibetan government in exile, the result for which were declared on Monday.
In the results declared today, the Election Commissioner Wangdu Tsering announced that Penpa Tsering was leading in the first round of elections securing 24,488 votes, followed by Kalsang Dorjee former bureaucrat in CTA, securing close to 14,554 votes. Gyari Dolma, former home minister, trailed Dorjee with a difference of around 1,200 votes, leaving her out of the race for Sikyong. She got 13,363 votes. ....

DHARAMSHALA, Jan. 8: Raising the Tibetan flag at the Capitol hill riot is “concerning”, the North America Representative at the Office of Tibet in Washington Ngodup Tsering told
Voice of Tibet on Friday amid sentiments of outrage and alarm by section of the Tibetan online community.
On Wednesday, supporters of US President Donald Trump, few carrying Tibetan flags among them, stormed the building as the House of Representatives and the Senate held a joint session to certify the results of the presidential election where Democrat Joe Biden has emerged victorious. Photos appearing in social media and mainstream news agency portals showed a few individuals in Tibetan attire holding Tibetan flags and banners that espoused their support for the incumbent US President. ....
