Mammoth Spring Council held their regular monthly meeting on Monday, June 7.
A Mammoth Spring citizen addressed council about concerns he had about water drainage near his home and any possible responsibility of the city regarding the issue. He stated there has been a problem with the drainage washing out the road.
A discussion was held as to whether it is a city street/easement. The city was unable to find a record of this. The city attorney is to inquire about the issue.
Council moved on to approve the May minutes and reports before approving to move the July meeting to Tuesday, July 6. ....

Substation by Norfork Dam catches fire, causes outage to several NAEC members

A fire caused damage to a power substation by the Norfork Dam and an outage to over 4,000 members of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative. The cooperative is reporting a regulator is on fire in the Norfork substation, and it has also been affecting the Pineville and Sycamore Springs substations.
According to a Baxter County 911 dispatch spokesperson, several fire crews are on the scene, and motorists are asked to avoid the area north of Salesville on Arkansas Highway 177 if possible. No cause of the fire has been announced.
In the latest update on its social media accounts, NAEC reports members served by the Norfork substation will experience an extended outage lasting at least well into the night, and power cannot be restored until the regulator is replaced and any damage to the structure is repaired. ....

MH building permits come roaring back with almost $16 million in construction

After a quiet month in December with just nine building permits issued in Mountain Home for a total construction value of $1.4 million, activity has come roaring back. Information just released from the City of Mountain Home indicates 26 permits were issued in January with a construction value of almost $16 million, according to a report from Jeannie Anderson from the Building Inspection Department.
Three of the permits have construction values in excess of $1 million. The three were
– a remodel permit issued to Gregory Company on behalf of Baxter Healthcare, located at 1900 Arkansas Highway 201 North, for a 48,000-square-foot project with a construction value of $8 million; ....
