Freshman North Hills lawmaker Mercuri vows to continue fight to privatize state liquor stores

Freshman state Rep. Rob Mercuri, R-Pine, said one of his House committee assignments a seat on the Liquor Control Committee will allow him to continue his predecessor’s efforts to end the state’s liquor store monopoly. Mercuri replaces former House speaker Mike Turzai, who led the fight to allow beer and wine sales in grocery and convenience stores.

Atria's, Juniper Grill remain closed despite lift on state restrictions

Atria’s and sister restaurant Juniper Grill will remain closed through mid-January after management said it’s too difficult to make a living at half-capacity, as mandated by the state during covid-19 restrictions.

Two local restaurant chains have chosen to remain temporarily closed despite the state lifting its most recent covid-19 restrictions.
Management at Atria’s and Juniper Grill said they cannot be profitable at half-capacity, as mandated by Gov. Tom Wolf’s virus-related guidelines.
“We cannot and will not make it as a business on 50% capacity,” said Michael Diaddigo, vice president of operations for both restaurants. “As a business, we would fold.” ....
