ARLINGTON, Virginia (5/28/2021) – The National Guard’s senior general officer reaffirmed today the component’s relationship with a group providing comfort, care and resources to those grieving the death of a military loved one.
Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief, National Guard Bureau, and Bonnie Carroll, president, Tragedy and Assistance Program for Survivors, exchanged a memorandum of understanding, continuing an institutional relationship that stretches back to the founding of TAPS.
“This one is personal,” Hokanson told those attending the 27th Annual National Military Survivor Seminar and Good Grief Camp during the four-day Memorial Day weekend here. “TAPS was born out of tragedy – the death of eight Soldiers in the Army National Guard in a 1992 plane crash. ....

ND National Guard marks one year of COVID-19 response

The North Dakota National Guard marks its one-year anniversary this week of COVID-19 response operations.  The first North Dakota Guard members were activated for COVID-19 duty on March 16, 2020.
The ongoing support mission is the largest and longest state mobilization in North Dakota history.  As of March 15, the Guard has logged nearly 98,000 personnel-days.
Soldiers and Airmen have planned and administered COVID-19 mobile testing sites state-wide.  Guard members have conducted strategic response planning and deep cleaning at long-term and congregate living facilities.  Soldiers and Airmen have also assisted in the administering of COVID-19 vaccines and  assisted with contact tracing. ....

BISMARCK, N.D. (National Guard) – Today the North Dakota National Guard marks its one-year anniversary of COVID-19 response operations in support of state and community health agencies.
The first North Dakota Guard members were activated for COVID-19 duty on March 16, 2020.
The ongoing COVID-19 support mission is the largest and longest state mobilization in North Dakota history. On Nov. 19, 2020 https://www.ndguard.nd.gov/news/nd-guard-reaches-milestone-covid-support, the North Dakota National Guard logged 67,495 personnel-days surpassing the previous record of 67,264 personnel-days record ....
