One year ago Tuesday, Rodney Gonzalez had his first day in his role as the director of the Amarillo VA Healthcare System. At that time, the Texas Panhandle, along with the state, the nation and the world as a whole, did not know the full impact the COVID-19 pandemic was going to bring.
But just one year later, Gonzalez was one of five doctors honored by the city of Amarillo for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic, giving city officials, along with community members, the chance to look back on the past year and the impact of COVID-19 on the region as a whole. ....
