Wyoming County woman charged after allegedly causing over $16K worth of damage to emergency department

WYOMING COUNTY, N.Y. A Wyoming County woman has been arrested for allegedly causing over $16,000 worth of damage at the emergency department in the Wyoming County Community Health System.
According to the Wyoming County Sheriff s Office, Mary K. Coyne, 32, was a patient in the emergency department on June 25. While in the emergency department, Coyne allegedly barricaded herself inside a room causing $16,631.95 worth of damage to both the room and equipment.
Deputies from the Wyoming County Sheriff s Office were called to the scene and assisted personnel from the emergency department to help control Coyne.
Coyne was then transferred to ECMC, where deputies say she later absconded. ....

GLOW region hospitals feeling COVID strain as beds fill with surge 'very different than the first wave' | Local News


The four-county GLOW region saw 142 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, as the number of active cases continues at their highest level since the pandemic arrived in the region in March.
Livingston County matched Genesee County on Thursday with 187 active cases each. For Livingston County the total represented the most active COVID-19 cases in a single day.
Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming counties have a total of 636 active cases as of Thursday, according to data from the counties’ health departments.
The rising cases comes a day after a New York Times article looked at the availability of intensive care unit beds across the country. An interactive map accompanying the article, “There’s No Place for Them to Go,” showed that more than half of the ICU beds in two of the GLOW counties were occupied, while a third county was nearing that threshold. At Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, five out of eight ICU beds, or 57 percent, were ....
