BLUE HILL For the first time in its history spanning 43 years, the Blue Hill Concert Association has made the difficult decision to postpone the 2021 season of winter chamber music concerts. In 2022, however, concert-goers can look forward to hearing the previously scheduled Verona Quartet, Trio con Brio, Kenari Quartet and Ariel Quartet. The well-being of musicians and audience members and musicians alike shaped the decision.
When the decision was made to postpone the season’s concerts, the association’s board of trustees simultaneously realized that educational engagement with the schools could still happen if funding could be found. Making that happen is the Auburn-based Onion Foundation through a $5,000 grant. The grant will be used specifically to develop and implement a series of special remote and interactive chamber music programs, involving Maine-based musicians, for local schools. ELLSWORTH A driver attempting to park his vehicle instead drove into a Mill Mall storefront on Dec. 16.
Robert B. Drach, 37, of Tallahassee, Fla., thought he had placed his 2020 Honda sport utility vehicle in park when he pulled in front of Tag’s Sports Bar at 11:55 a.m. But he had not. Then, to compound matters, Drach accidentally stepped on the gas, he told police.
Three plate glass windows were broken in the building, which is owned by Roger Grant of Ellsworth. Drach’s Honda was damaged in the front right corner. The crash report noted that Drach had operated his vehicle in an “erratic, reckless, careless, negligent or aggressive manner.” No drug or alcohol tests were deemed necessary, no personal injuries were reported and, as of the issuance of the report, no charges were filed. ....
