Family, friends say goodbye to Adrian King Kinston/Jones Free Press (kfp) Family and friends said goodbye to Lenoir County icon Adrian King on Sunday as he was laid to rest in the King Family Cemetery. Richard Adrian King, a North Carolina native born in Kinston on January 28, 1942, died due to COVID-19 on January 4. Rev. Tom Warren of St. Mary's Episcopal Church officiated the graveside service with members of King's family in attendance. Members of the community were, to name a few, John and Lucy Marston, Tammy Kelly, Felicia Solomon, Craig Hill, Leon Steele, Leraine Tolston, and two people who had the opportunity to kiss King on the cheeks when he was named Kinston-Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year – Frances Theodorakis and June Cummings.

James & Linda Zander Lose Battle To COVID-19 Share via: A Heartbreaking Loss On Monday evening, James and Linda Zander passed away after battling COVID-19 since early December. The beloved couple once referred to as the “dynamic duo” by former Mayor McCowan, passed away in the same hospital room. James and Linda Zander loved the City of DeSoto and spent time serving the city in various roles over the years. James served on the DeSoto City Council for seven years. Prior to that post, he served four years on the DeSoto Economic Development Corporation Board. Mayor Pro Tem Kenzie Moore III, said “The loss of former City Councilmember James Zander and his dear wife Linda was very sad news for DeSoto. I replaced James on the DeSoto City Council at his recommendation, and that recommendation was important to me.
