Seven years after the Roast Busters underage sex allegations surfaced two of the accused have made their first appearance in court.
The 24-year-old men both have interim name suppression. Criminal defence lawyer Ron Mansfield is representing one of them.
A warrant has been sought for a third man living overseas.
Charges of sexual connection with a young person aged 12-16 were filed against the trio last week after a young woman went back to police to relay her initial complaint.
She was one of 110 teenage girls canvassed by police in 2013 when the self-confessed Roast Busters group were alleged to have had sex with multiple drunk underage girls. ....

As one of the two men accused of sexual connection with a young person in relation to the Roast Busters scandal left court a member of the public yelled shame .
The two men were both granted interim name suppression at their court appearance today.
The first to appear, a 24-year-old man, wore a facemask as he entered the courtroom.
He is charged with sexual connection with a young person.

An alleged victim of the west Auckland Roast Busters says she was shocked but relieved charges have been laid seven years after the alleged group sex ring was exposed.
In 2013, Newshub (then 3 News) revealed a group of high school students calling themselves the Roast Busters had allegedly engaged in group sex with underage, intoxicated girls as young as 13. ....

Roast Busters ringleader: 'I'm ready to face any consequences'

he hadn’t been contacted by New Zealand police in relation to the alleged offending, but he would come back to New Zealand if there was a warrant for his arrest.

“I know who I am today and I m ready to face any consequences for my actions as a youth,” Parker told
Newshub.
“I m down to take responsibility for anything I ve done in the group and move forward. I’m not some fugitive that s going to hide all my life.”
Two 24-year-old men will appear in the Waitākere District Court on December 23, Sutton said, and a warrant would be sought for a third man who resides overseas. ....
