Dion Dawkins spent this past weekend giving back to his hometown by delivering meals to families in need.
Through his foundation, Dion s Dreamers, and with the help of Plainfield Fruit and Produce and over 60 volunteers they were able to distribute fresh produce and essentials to families in the city of Rahway, New Jersey and the surrounding area. Dawkins was born and raised in Rahway and hosted the event at Rahway High School, where he graduated in 2013 before going to college at Temple. ....

The NFL announced today that the 2021 NFL Draft will again host Draft-a-Thon, a fundraiser that drives awareness and action to close critical gaps at the intersection of pandemic recovery and our hardest hit communities. Draft-a-Thon will raise funds on behalf of four national nonprofit organizations that are supporting underserved communities in these areas: The Digital Divide in education, health disparities, food insecurity and mental health.
It s imperative to help those in need as we navigate toward recovery from the pandemic. Through Draft-a-Thon, the NFL Draft will serve as a platform to create action and change, said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. We re proud to partner with the CDC Foundation, The Education Trust, Feeding America, and Mental Health America in helping generate awareness and driving assistance to aid those who have been critically underserved throughout the last year. ....

NFL reprises Draft-a-Thon to raise money for pandemic relief

NEW YORK (AP) The NFL is bringing back the Draft-a-Thon that raised money last year for charities dealing with the coronavirus pandemic.
The league announced Thursday that this year’s three-day fundraiser coinciding with the NFL draft April 29-May 1 and hosted by NFL Network’s Kay Adams will raise money and awareness for pandemic recovery efforts.
The fundraiser will focus on four national nonprofit organizations that are supporting underserved communities in the following areas: health disparities ( CDC Foundation ), bridging the digital divide ( The Education Trust ), food insecurity ( Feeding America ) and mental health ( Mental Health America ).
“It’s imperative to help those in need as we navigate toward recovery from the pandemic,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement. “Through Draft-a-Thon, the NFL Draft will serve as a platform to create action and change.” ....
