Rep. Ivan Blanco passes away


REPRESENTATIVE Ivan A. Blanco, the House Republican leader, passed away Friday afternoon. He was 45.
Blanco attended a Developmental Disabilities Council meeting at the Aqua Resort Friday morning. Variety was told that  after lunchtime, the Precinct 3 lawmaker suddenly felt weak, and then became unresponsive. He was rushed to the Commonwealth Health Center where he was pronounced dead at past 1:30 p.m.
One of Blanco s colleagues in the House, Rep. Angel Demapan, described him as “beloved  by everyone.”
“His death is big loss to the  Commonwealth He was an honorable statesman, a very loving father and a very devoted husband.”
Demapan added, “I just ask that we keep his family and his soul in our prayers during this very difficult time.” ....

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ administration is asking the federal government for an additional $1.1 billion in federal Medicaid dollars over the next two years to bolster access to home- and community-based programs and steer steer hundreds of millions of dollars to poor, elderly and disabled Floridians to purchase technology and make home improvements that enable them to age in place.
Florida submitted a proposal to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services late Monday, July 12, that, if approved, would also direct $191 million to enroll more individuals in the state’s home- and community-based Medicaid waiver program - dubbed the “iBudget” program - for people with intellectual and develop ....
