United Way of Lamar County announces 2021 agency allocations and program funding


In 2021 United Way of Lamar County partner agencies allocations are as follows:
The King’s Daughters: $43,000
American Red Cross: $20,000
Salvation Army: $10,000
Boy Scouts Circle Ten: $2,000
Lamar County Child Welfare Board: $28,000
RSVP: $5,000
LCHRC Meals on Wheels: $48,000
LCHRC Horizon House: $30,000
Safe-T Agency: $20,000
RRV Down Syndrome Society: $28,000
Paris Kiwanis Imagination Library: $5,000
Habitat for Humanity: $18,000
Ark-Tex COG/ Paris Metro: $25,000
Downtown Food Pantry: $30,000
Early Childhood Intervention: $3,000
C.E.R.T.: $2,000
Tailored Rides Equine Assisted Therapy: $5,000
In addition to funding the 2021 partner agencies, United Way of Lamar County has allocated $50,000 to its rental assistance program, United Home, $2,500 to the Foster Parent Association and will continue to offer free tax preparation through its VITA program.

The Jordan Scientific Society held a regular meeting in its headquarters in Carnegie Science Hall, at Bates College Wednesday evening. Mr. Costello, of the Lewiston Sun, gave an Instructive talk on “Gathering in the News.”  He had some interesting excerpts from articles of the London Times, of one hundred years ago, gave a brief explanation of the operation of linotype machines and spoke at length about the Associated Press today.

The Christmas Formal is coming up tomorrow evening at the Edward Little High School Gym. The annual event attracts many students each year from both Edward Little and from Lewiston High School. lt is an event that is co-sponsored by two sororities — and made up of ELHS students and co-sponsored by those who study on the other side of the river.

SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 17, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of the Santa Clara County Association of REALTORS® (SCCAOR) donated hundreds of toys and pajamas at their recent drive-through Toy Drive event. In addition to the donations, a total of
$3950 was raised online, with everything going to the Kinship, Adoptive and Foster Parent Association (KAFPA).
"The REALTOR® Community has once again shown their incredible support for a great cause," said Sandy Jamison, SCCAOR President. "KAFPA does amazing work for foster kids in our community. We couldn't all meet in person this year but I am amazed at all the toys and money that was raised by our members."
