Self-regulation code for OTT channels must be given a chance to work to foster creativity
India’s Internet-based Over-The-Top (OTT) streaming services have operationalised a code of self-regulation from February 10, soon after the I&B Ministry announced that it had prepared a set of guidelines and directives for the industry. The inexorable growth of OTT channels has infused creative talent into film-making, aided by the absence of overbearing censors and vested interests, although it might be argued that it also has a small minority pursuing crass commercialism. COVID-19 buoyed subscription revenues from home-bound viewers for OTT ventures streaming films, reality shows, serials and documentaries, and with cinemas closed, even broke the industry taboo against online-first film releases. Yet, the urgency of this code arises not from any challenge to law and order or morality posed by films, but the gauntlet of police and court cases that film-makers and the channels are now ....

On the directives of Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood, the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has issued the schedule for extracurricular activities, according to
Daily Jang.
This is the first time that the IBCC will hold such competitions, the publication said, adding that Na at, Holy Quran recitation, anthem singing, and debate competitions would be arranged.
The first programme will be held on February 11 in Karachi, second on Feb 16 in Sukkur, third on Feb 18 in Bahawalpur, fourth on Feb 22 in Lahore, fifth on Feb 26 in Islamabad, sixth on March 1 in Peshawar, and seventh on Mar 4 in Abbottabad. ....

Mini World's End: Missing youth's body found

The body of a youth who went missing while visiting the Mini World s End was found by Army Special Forces this afternoon, below a precipice of about 1300 feet.
Army Special Forces soldiers had descended to Mini World s End with the help of raffle ropes.
The police stated that the youth was missing since the night of 06 February. He had come with another group to watch Mini World s End, where the group was said to be staying in tents.
It is reported that the youth had left the place saying that he was going to the van in which the group had arrived due to the extreme cold of the night. ....
