Kosovo s parliament has elected Vjosa Osmani, the candidate of the ruling Vetevendosje (Self-Determination) movement, as the country s new president. Osmani was elected with 71 votes on April 4 after the third ballot. The 38-year-old lawyer has been rated Kosovo s most popular politician.

Opponents of Georgia’s new elections law call it a blatant attack on voting rights, aimed specifically at suppressing the minority vote that helped propel Joe Biden’s presidential win and gave Democrats two critical seats in the U.S. Senate. Cherokee Nation refines absentee ballot guidelines


TAHLEQUAH – For the 2021 election cycle, Cherokee Nation officials have refined absentee ballot regulations and added penalties for anyone caught breaking the rules.
CN election code now specifically states that only voters who request an absentee ballot are allowed to sign the document.
“Any absentee ballot request application signed by a person other than the Registered Voter shall be discarded as invalid,” the change states.
An entirely new section in the code defines the criminal activity of election fraud. It includes ballot stuffing and the act of “doctoring or changing absentee ballot requests.” Also, absentee ballot requests signed by a person other than the registered voter “shall be referred to the Attorney General of the Cherokee Nation for prosecution as applicable,” according to the updated code. ....

Ballot drop boxes and curbside voting now allowed for all Illinois elections


The measure, which takes effect immediately, passed both chambers of the General Assembly last month.
In addition to drop boxes, the new law also makes permanent the requirement that election authorities accept mail-in ballots regardless of whether they are returned with sufficient postage.
Proponents of drop boxes say they are a convenient option for voters who have concerns about trusting their ballots to the Postal Service. Curbside voting, meanwhile, makes it easier for people with disabilities or health issues to cast ballots, supporters say.
