It was about a year after The Smell Of Rain: A Romance As It Should Be, and my wife and I were in a rental house on the beach on Topsail Island, NC. Admittedly this is not off the beaten path but there are advantages to being close to Wilmington, NC. One of those advantages is being close to The Waterline Brewing Company! One of the couples (let s call them Rob and Eve) that we were close to during military service in Naples, Italy (yes , I lead a charmed life!) are the founders and owners of The Waterline . . . and they have a Taproom! (Do you have any idea how great it is to have friends who own a bar, and even more incredible to have friends who own a brewery!)
