Nashville Police investigate attempted kidnapping of Vanderbilt student


Police are searching for a suspect after a Vanderbilt student reported a man tried to abduct her over the weekend as she walked along Music Row.
According to information from Vanderbilt University Police Department, a student reported that about 9 p.m. Saturday, she was walking east on Grand Avenue near 21st Avenue South when a man appeared from a parking lot between 19th Avenue South and 18th Avenue South.
The student told police the man yelled to her, “Come here, I want to talk to you.”
She ignored the man, police reported, and continued walking east.
The man then ran towards her and lifted her off the ground, the student reported. She told police she began screaming and fighting and was able to break free and run from the area. ....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — As the city continues to recover from the Christmas Day bombing, Nashville Mayor John Cooper has added new members to Metro’s Christmas Day Special Review Committee.
Cooper appointed seven Nashvillians to the committee. They include public safety experts, community partners and downtown property owners.
The group will review and investigate the circumstances of the blast and suggest improvements, procedures and policy changes.
“From this tragedy, we have an opportunity to learn and become stronger,” Mayor Cooper said in a press release. “These Nashvillians bring expertise, experience, and diverse perspectives to this committee. I’m grateful for their service.” ....

(SMYRNA, TN)   Detective Kevin Krieb with Smyrna Police Department (SPD) is the recipient of the Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement.  The award was presented by United States Attorney Don Cochran.
Detective Krieb began his career in law enforcement as an officer with Vanderbilt University Police Department.  He joined the Smyrna Police Department in 2002.  Beginning in patrol, he worked his way through the SPD ranks, serving as a DARE officer, narcotics detective, DEA task force officer, and was recently promoted to Detective Sergeant of Narcotics.
The Department of Justice, Office of the United States Attorney, Middle District of Tennessee honors law enforcement officers and agents who exceed the call of duty to keep their communities safe.  Detective Krieb was honored for his role in a nine-month investigation that resulted in the indictment of five members of ....
