Triguboff: Australia's borders should be open | Sky News Australia

Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood sat down with Meriton founder and Managing Director Harry Triguboff to chat about Australia, housing, migration and the future.

For more than 60 years Mr Triguboff has built apartments starting with red-brick blocks of flats but, eventually, some of the tallest buildings in the nation’s capital cities.

“When the virus started it was difficult because at that time, we lost migrants and we lost our students, so suddenly we had many empty apartments,” Mr Triguboff told Sky News.

“It didn’t worry me, but I had to be quick and decide what to do.

“The serviced apartments were hit most of all, so I said alright, they’re all furnished, we will lease them as furnished apartments, so my loss became very small.”

Mr Triguboff said Australia needs to open its borders a soon as possible and should be more worried about the number of people who are vaccinated than the number of COIVD cases in the community. ....

Japan shows it's a 'strong ally' of Australia by supporting pushback against China

Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says Japan is showing it is a “strong ally” of Australia by supporting pushback against China, particularly for it’s bans on Australian goods.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has always said China’s bans on Australian goods should be adjudicated within the World Trade Organisation and will have the chance to make his case at the G7 summit, according to Mr Greenwood.

“He’s certainly assisted and aided in this by not only the United States … but also by Japan, again giving assistance to Australia and saying … there’s got to be pushback against China, against its taking over of islands and parts of the South China Sea,” he said.

“But also, when it comes to dealing with trade with Australia.

“Japan, by doing this, clearly again is showing itself to be a strong ally of Australia right now and this is key if Australia is to get itself back on track with China … in terms of trade”.

The Morrison Government is “in trouble” over its super changes, according to Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
