Council opposes planned Government changes to train services

Warrington Central WARRINGTON Borough Council says proposed changes to rail services would have a ‘detrimental impact’ on the town. The Government has put forward three options for alterations to trains in the region as part of the Manchester Recovery Task Force, which aims to address the poor performance of rail services in the city. Under the first, Warrington Bank Quay would lose its direct connections to Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly. All Manchester-bound services from Bank Quay Station would instead travel to Manchester Victoria before continuing to Stalybridge. Meanwhile, options B and C would see direct services from Warrington Central, Warrington West and Birchwood to Manchester Airport scrapped.
