LABOUR S Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols says it is ‘too early’ to draw any major conclusions from the council elections after her party’s Town Hall majority was cut.
The Conservatives made big gains at the ballot box as Labour retained control of the council despite losing seven seats – including a number of high-profile casualties.
Both of the town’s MPs, who won their seats in the 2019 general election, were at the borough council election count on Saturday.
Ms Nichols said: “Disappointingly, we lost the Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft ward. ....

What to expect as Warrington goes to the polls on Thursday
WARRINGTON will go to the polls on Thursday - with many voters being able to vote in three elections.
Every seat on Warrington Borough Council is up for grabs while voters will also be able to choose a crime commissioner.
And in some areas, parish council seats will also be available.
WHAT IS THE SITUATION IN THE LOCAL ELECTIONS >
The delayed local elections will choose the political make up of the Town Hall for the next three years.
All of the 58 seats will be up for grabs. Councillors normally serve four years but after last year s election was delayed due to Covid, the winners on Thursday will serve for three years until the next vote in 2024. ....

Parents hope to secure parliamentary debate on Tourette's syndrome


PARENTS pleading for more support for children with Tourette’s syndrome have received a Government response – but have set their sights on securing a parliamentary debate.
Tourette’s syndrome is a condition that causes a person to make involuntary sounds and movements called tics.
Unfortunately, there is no cure for it but treatment can help to manage symptoms.
Mum-of-two Emma McNally, from St Helens, set up an online petition to Parliament and Government calling for an increase in funding to provide support and research into Tourette’s. It now has more than 12,750 signatures.
Emma’s son, aged 13, has Tourette’s syndrome. ....
