Age UK's Big Knit campaign wants help from Cheshire knitters

A CHARITY is calling on woolly warriors in Cheshire to join them in a knitting campaign to raise urgent funds for older people who are most in need.
The innocent Big Knit campaign has returned and Age UK Cheshire is calling on the knitters and crocheters of Cheshire to get their knitting needles out to help as much as they can.
This is the 18th year that healthy drinks maker innocent has been running the Big Knit in partnership with Age UK with the idea to craft some little hats to sit on innocent smoothie bottles.
For each be-hatted smoothie sold, Age UK receives 25p, which will help the Charity make a big difference to the lives of older people. ....

Chance to apply for share of £82k Cheshire West funding pot | Chester and District Standard

CHESHIRE West causes are receiving a much-needed share from an £82k funding pot.
The huge sum was raised through a crowdfunding effort launched by Cheshire West and Chester Council, in aid of community initiatives.
CWaC kickstarted the crowdfunding effort on Spacehive with a £50,000 contribution and the Westminster Foundation added a further £25,000 soon after. Other organisations, such as the Hoppy Trust, individuals and councillors have also joined the collective effort to support local charities and community groups.
This follows the Community Response Fund worth £500,000 that was launched towards the start of the pandemic and has now been distributed in full.
Grants will focus on key priorities like food poverty, isolation and befriending services, mental health support, older people’s services, support for children and young people and financial hardship. ....

Pickmere residents rally to support Age UK Cheshire at Christmas

A VILLAGE community has pulled together once again to help make sure older residents are not forgotten over Christmas.
In what has become a tradition in recent years, Pickmere Community Group has teamed up with the Red Lion pub to support Age UK Cheshire during the festive season.
Villagers have been donating gifts throughout December to place around a ‘giving tree’ at the Red Lion.
Age UK Cheshire will be delivering the gifts along with wellbeing hampers to people across the county who have been in touch with the charity for support and befriending during this difficult year. ....

Queen's School Chester spreading festive cheer with Age UK Cheshire campaign

GIRLS at The Queen’s School have pledged to support the older generation by helping to raise funds for local charity Age UK Cheshire this Christmas.
After learning about the chronic loneliness that many older people experience during the festive period, the pupils decided to take action and made contact with local older people’s charity Age UK Cheshire.
Hearing about the hard work that the charity does to help relieve the isolation and despair felt by so many people, the girls were inspired to get creative about their fundraising efforts.
The pupils (and a teacher or two!) are filming pieces of music, poetry, jokes and dance that will be used in a digital advent calendar with the charity revealing a new clip each day in the run up to Christmas and encouraging people to donate to help them continue their work. ....
