Walter Sisulu University admits it was wrong in removing 127 students last year

In May, more than 100 students were removed from the Walter Sisulu University academic system and were unable to write their final exams. The university on Monday accepted the responsibility for the erroneous deregistration of those students.

The Walter Sisulu University on Monday accepted responsibility for erroneously deregistering 127 students during the 2020 academic year.
The university in the Eastern Cape offered an unqualified apology to affected students and their families.
The matter came to light in November last year when the students found they had been deregistered. ....

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Kamala Harris made history Wednesday. Sheâs the first woman, the first Black woman and the first South Asian vice president of the United States.
Sheâs also a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha (AKA), the nationâs first Black sorority.
Valdosta State University (VSU) has a chapter.
The ladies of the sorority said theyâre excited to have one of their sisters in the White House. ....

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Hundreds of Valdosta State University students gathered Monday to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Students said that years later, they’re still fighting for his dream.

“He fought for equality, he fought for the equality of all persons of all colors. So, we want to remember that his purpose is still alive today due to the racial injustices that we have seen over the years,” said Ahre Matchett, one of the organizers of Monday’s march. ....

January Siphesihle Mafungwa, 24, Yamkela Mxokozeli, 26, Philani Danca, 26, and Lwakhe Matakane, 23, were found guilty of the murder of medical student Lwando Mantshontsho. Sindile Kango, 26, was found guilty of malicious damage to property.

Four Walter Sisulu University students have been found guilty of the murder of final-year medical student Lwando Mantshontsho.
Mantshontsho, 23, of Cofimvaba, was killed in his room at WSU s Nelson Mandela Drive campus in May 2017. He had been stabbed multiple times in the upper body.
January Siphesihle Mafungwa, 24, Yamkela Mxokozeli, 26, Philani Danca, 26, and Lwakhe Matakane, 23, were found guilty by Mthatha high court judge Buyiswa Majiki on January 13. ....
