CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Many medical care providers anticipate Johnson and Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine will be a “game changer” in the battle against the coronavirus, but it’s still unclear how the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control will distribute it.
While the US Food and Drug Administration says the vaccine has met its requirements for emergency use authorization, it is not yet publicly available. The FDA’s Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee is set to make a recommendation on the shot Friday, and the White House has said 3 to 4 million doses will be released next week if emergency use is gr ....

Rawalpindi: City Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Mazhar Iqbal on Friday distributed awareness pamphlets and back view mirrors among motorcyclists under an ongoing awareness campaign launched by Education Wing of CTP.
On the occasion, the CTO said that one glance can save a two wheelers life as most of the road accidents and deaths of the bikers reported due to non-usage of back view mirrors.
Side-view mirrors are an important road safety aid, he said, the CTP have taken a new initiative to make roads safer for two-wheeler riders.
He said, the CTP were making efforts to spread awareness about the rear view mirror which must be used by the two-wheeler riders, as these mirrors are the rear eye of the drivers during heavy flow of traffic on roads. ....

US distributes 49.9 mln doses of COVID-19 vaccines, administers 31.1 mln shots -CDC

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said it had administered 31,123,299 doses of COVID-19 vaccines in the country as of Sunday morning and distributed 49,933,250 doses.
The doses are for both Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines as of 6 a.m. ET (1100 GMT) on Sunday, the agency said.
According to the tally posted on Saturday, the agency had administered 29,577,902 doses of the vaccines and distributed 49,932,850 doses.
The agency said 25,201,143 people had received one or more doses while 5,657,142 people have gotten a second dose as of Sunday.
A total of 3,683,718 vaccine doses have been administered in long-term care facilities, the agency said. ....

ISLAMABAD: Yet another time in the current winter, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) of Saudi Arabia has distributed about 22,550 winter kits among the deserving people, residing in Chitral, Swat and Shangla districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and surrounding areas of the federal capital in collaboration with the NDMA, the KP government and the Islamabad Capital administration. About 135,300 individuals benefited from the project, which costs US$1,258,164.
According to the Saudi mission, each package comprises two quilts, shawls of men and women, nine pairs of socks and warmers for both men and women of the needy families living in the colder regions. The KSRelief said: “We are proud that we had completed this challenging project in a very short span of time and in harsh and extremely cold weather with the help of the Government of Pakistan.” ....
