The Rajshahi Development Authority (RDA) under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works of Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has contracted a joint venture consisting of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (as the lead firm), Data Experts (Pvt.) Limited and Troyee Associates for revision of current Functional Master Plan and Detailed Area Plan of RMDP for an area of 364.19 sq.km (including twelve unions, two Pourashavas and one City Corporation)for the plan years, i.e. is 2024 and also to update the present information as well as to make the plan Disaster Risk Sensitive through integration of disaster risk information. Govt mulls 60,000 new flats in Purbachal, 8,400 in Uttara

The government has taken a plan to construct up to 60,000 new flats in Purbachal New Town and 8,400 in Uttara Sector 18.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said this in his budget speech today.
Following the directives of the Hon ble Prime Minister, the government is formulating and implementing projects to increase the housing facilities of government officials and employees from 8 percent to 40 percent.
Under this project, 2,762 residential flats have been constructed in FY 2020-2021. Another 1,536 flats will be constructed across the country including in Dhaka, he said. ....

Dhaka hotter in 20 years | The Daily Star

Dhaka has witnessed a rise in temperature of almost 3 degrees Celsius in the last 20 years while the world is fighting to contain the increase in global temperature to under 1.5 degrees.
The increase in annual daytime temperature in Dhaka over the last 20 years is 2.74 degrees Celsius, finds a study conducted on five major cities of Bangladesh.
Like Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet have also witnessed rising trends of day and night temperatures in the timeframe, said the study, which surmised that population density, lack of greenery, uneven building heights, and human activities are the main reasons behind the trend. ....
