Driscoll files bill that would bring changes to Blue Hills deer hunt

BOSTON – After the Blue Hills deer hunt banned shotguns this past year, Rep. William Driscoll, D-Quincy, has filed a new bill designed to end the hunt altogether.
“[The shotgun ban] was a result of advocacy from myself and others to try and get the guns removed.” Driscoll said. “We’re pleased that had occurred and still would like to see a further reduction of the hunt in general.”
According to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation website, the decision to ban shotguns during last year’s event was due to COVID-19 and to maintain social distancing.
Massachusetts hunters are allowed to apply for an opportunity to participate in marked off areas of the Blue Hills during 11 specific days in November. ....

Vaccine Rollout in Massachusetts Continues Its Rocky Pace

Vaccine Rollout in Massachusetts Continues Its Rocky Pace

Rob Whitten, executive director of the Leavitt Family Jewish Home, gets vaccinated in January. For the public, the process has been thornier.
February was the month all seniors in Massachusetts would finally be able to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Instead, it was a month of frustration.
“It’s simply inexcusable, in a state with the healthcare infrastructure and high-tech reputation we have, that the vaccine rollout was allowed to fall behind every other state so quickly,” state Sen. Eric Lesser told BusinessWest, calling the state’s scheduling website “an obstacle course with all these links and hoops to go through, instead of making it simple, like Travelocity or KAYAK or Open Table.” ....

Baker's supply-side vaxonomics fails to win him points with Democrats

Daily News Staff and News Services
It s the supply, stupid.
Those weren t the exact words Gov. Charlie Baker used Thursday, but as he got barraged with criticism from Democratic lawmakers, it was a defense he would return to again and again.
The new Joint Committee on COVID-19 and Emergency Preparedness s vaccine oversight hearing was must-see streaming on Beacon Hill, even with the governor trying to offer his own counter-programming.
The state s vaccine rollout, and more specifically its online appointment booking system, continues to be a source of consternation. While the system didn t crash, per se, the experience of fighting online with hundreds of thousands of people for one of the 50,000 new appointments left an anxious public unpacified. ....
