Lance P. Muir, 82, of Big Flats, NY died peacefully on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Williamsport Home, where its caregivers supported him with grace and empathy for the last 6 months of life.
Lance was born August 31, 1938 in Greensburg, PA, the son of Donald and Madeline (Sayenga) Muir. Lance married his childhood sweetheart, Geraldine M. “Gerry” (Murray) Muir, on August 19, 1961, whom he met on the playground when they were both schoolchildren. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2002.
Lance was a proud 1962 graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a degree in Industrial Engineering and remained a devoted supporter and lifetime member of the Alumni Association. He spent his entire 37-year career with Corning Inc. as an engineer, which allowed him to travel and make friends all over the world, often to Japan, South Korea, and Mexico, with stops in Christiansburg, VA, Greenville, OH, and Cumberland, RI along the way. Ruth U. Pile, 92, of Williamsport, died peacefully, Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Williamsport Home.
Born March 1, 1929 in Williamsport, she was a daughter of S. Gibson and Grace (Aderhold) Updegraff. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Frank E. Pile, Sr. on Jan. 14, 2007, and a son Lee U. Pile on Feb. 16, 2003.
Ruth was a 1947 graduate of Williamsport High School and served in the Navy Reserves. She worked many years as a travel agent for Liberty Travel, a job she so dearly enjoyed. Ruth was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed traveling and playing cards.
Surviving are a son, Frank E. Pile, Jr. (Karen) of Williamsport; a daughter-in-law, Catherine M. Pile of Williamsport and three grandchildren, Jennifer Pile of Pikesville, Md., Brandon Pile (Kelsey) of Mechanicsburg and Carla Pile of Beachwood, Ohio. ....

Florence Earline Ludwig Metzger peacefully reunited with her heavenly family ~ husband, Thomas (1923-2007); son, Larry (1948-2008); daughters, June Marie Leary (1952-1999) and Lou Anne Bastian (1954-2007) on January 7, 2021 at age 93.
She was the daughter of Earl and Ethel (Taucher) Ludwig, and the sister of Myron, Boyd, and Arnold Ludwig who predeceased her. Florence was born May 10, 1927 in Williamsport and lived most of her life in Cogan Station. She was a 1945 graduate of Williamsport High School. Florence met Tom shortly after his return from WWII and became his bride of 60 years. They purchased the Metzger family grocery store in Newberry and continued the business while raising three children – their pride and joy. After selling the store in 1960, Florence worked as the credit manager at Sears until her retirement. She and Tom built their forever home near her childhood home in Cogan Station where she enjoyed gardening, playing cards, bird watching ....
