Two Harbors Veterans Make Big Donation To Ronald McDonald House

It took a whole entire year to complete, but a group from the American Legion Auxiliary in Two Harbors managed to collect 36 bags or approximately 90 pounds of pop-tops that they dropped off this past weekend at the Northland Ronald McDonald House in Duluth.
Zandra Davenport who is the Chairman for Children in Youth at the American Legion Auxiliary said that these pop tabs actually weigh more than cans, and are cleaner too. These will be recycled and turned into money for the Ronald McDonald House.
Nancy Hopper, President of the American Legion Auxiliary said to WDIO:
I have been an Auxiliary member for 60 some years and this is one of my favorite projects because you get to help people and it’s not just the veterans we are helping. We are helping everybody communities and families. ....

'I can't say thank you enough': N.C. veteran receives new roof for his Habitat home

WILMINGTON, N.C. (Tribune News Service) U.S. Army veteran Kevin Hughes has seen two blessings in as many days.
On Sunday, his third grandchild was born. And Monday morning, Hughes stood back and watched as a new roof was installed on his Habitat For Humanity home off Gordon Road in Wilmington.
Hughes and his wife, Kathy, are part of the first Cape Fear Habitat For Humanity Veterans Build home in Wilmington. The estimated closing date for their home is August.
Hughes served in the Army from 1969 to 1987 and emphasized how humbled he is for the opportunity. He was amazed how people have donated money, they have donated time in the middle of a pandemic to take care of old veterans like me. ....

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - The Central Virginia VA Health Care System is working to get veterans in our area vaccinated as quickly as possible.
So far, over 2,000 veterans have been vaccinated at the VA vaccine clinic in Charlottesville. The clinic in Charlottesville is specifically for veterans over the age of 40.
Thanks to the newly signed SAVE LIVES Act, the clinic will soon start vaccinating all veterans, the eligible spouses and caregivers. ....
