ROBERT K. KRUPP, 92 of Weirton, WV passed away Monday April 26, 2021 at UPMC Montefiore, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born May 20, 1928 in Weston, WV. The son of the late Jesse and Sallie James Krupp. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Carrol Miller, Mary Jane Wilson; brothers, James Krupp, Donald Krupp.
Bob served his country in the United States Navy, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Weirton Lodge No. 171 A.F. & A.M.; Osiris Shriners; Northern Panhandle Shrine Club where he was instrumental in the establishment & construction of their current location; chairman of the transportation committee which provided transportation for children to Shriner’s hospital. He truly enjoyed the time spent with the children on those trips; American Legion Post No.10; former fireman with the Weirton Heights VFD; he also enjoyed travelling and camping. He retired from National Steel Corp as a Superintendent of the tin mill. Prior to his e ....

One of my favorite books growing up was a children’s book by West Virginia resident and Weirton native Anna Egan Smucker. Her book “No Star Night” was enchanting, and one I personally resonated with since it takes place in town. The book is still in print, and I encourage anyone who grew up in our area in the 1950s to get a copy and share it with their loved ones. Without spoiling it, the climax of the story takes place in what we call the slag dump. ....

'Weir Coming Together' with chimes during the Christmas season | News, Sports, Jobs

WEIRTON Following the city of Weirton’s theme, “Weir Coming Together,” Christmas carols have been playing three times during the day on Weirton Heights and downtown Weirton during the Advent Season and will continue until Jan. 5.
Paula Brown, Gift of Years chairperson at First Christian Church, said she remembers many Christmas traditions in downtown Weirton, such as the speakers being placed on top of buildings and carols being played throughout the city during the Christmas season.
With the cancellation of many Christmas events in the area because of the coronavirus pandemic, she thought it would help the Christmas spirit if people could hear the chimes each day. ....
