A private school for preschool through sixth-graders is slated to open in Zirconia this September. Wild Oak Independent School President Cecily Rouse Timmons came up with the idea for the school about two years ago. The type of education she and her husband wanted for their daughters, currently ages 3 and 9, wasn’t available through private and public schools in Henderson County, Timmons said. “We were looking for something just a little bit different for her,” she said, referring to her older daughter. “Something where she could be outside a little bit more; where she’d have a little bit more freedom to explore academic interests that were interesting to her and, frankly, where she would get more personalized attention in the classroom.” ....

Inclusion in the list is based on the opinions of responding doctors in the region and the results of the magazine’s research. The Top Doctors were then voted on by peers in the state to complete the final list. “It does not surprise me that so many of our wonderful physicians are considered so highly-regarded by their peers,” David Ellis, chief medical officer of Pardee UNC Health Care, said in a news release. “Each one of these doctors is committed to their specialty and providing quality patient care to our community. Being named to this list is a distinct honor.” ....
