Project based TIFs would expand rural redevelopment
The Senate Committee on Economic Development, Housing and General Affairs is considering S.33, a bill that would allow more towns to apply for project-based tax increment financing. TIFs allow municipal governments to fund new private infrastructure projects through the anticipated tax revenue that results from the new projects.
S.33 would create a pilot program limited to six projects with a $1.5 million cap per application. This bill was considered last year with a higher limit but was lowered to get the support of the Senate Finance Committee chair. Witnesses testified this week in favor of increasing the cap to at least $4 million. ....

GMP, VEDA partner to help businesses save money while expanding EV chargers statewide


This Latest Program Builds on GMP’s Growing Commitment to EV Infrastructure Across Vermont
Vermont Business Magazine Green Mountain Power (GMP) is making it simple and affordable for business customers to install electric vehicle chargers for the public and their employees with a new Workplace Charging pilot program. The turnkey package includes the Level 2 charger, software, installation, project management, maintenance and financing. The cost could be as low as $35 per month for a single charger.
GMP partnered with the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA) to offer low-interest, flexible financing for businesses and municipalities in the program, and a GMP energy advisor will work closely with customers to streamline the entire process. ....

Be prepared, PPP fully opens on Tuesday


PPP Update
As the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) opens the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) application portal to lenders, ACCD is encouraging businesses to explore applying for the more than $284 billion has been allocated to this program nationally.
Friday, the portal was opened to lenders with $1 billion or less in assets for First and Second Draw applications. The portal will fully open on Tuesday, January 19th to all participating PPP lenders to submit First and Second Draw loan applications to the SBA.
Businesses can learn more learn more about First and Second Draw loans at the SBA website. A recording of a webinar ACCD and the SBA held earlier this week to discuss the program, eligibility, and application process is now available at the ACCD COVID-19 Recovery Resource Center. ....
