United Way grant money set to help local kids stay active
The United Way of the Wabash Valley is providing a second grant to help keep students active.

WABASH VALLEY (WTHI) - The United Way of the Wabash Valley is providing a second grant to help keep students active.
In total, $30,000 will be distributed to several local schools and organizations across the Wabash Valley. The money comes from the United Way s Youth Success Impact Council.
The aim is to help keep students active and involved in school.
The grants help those in kindergarten through 12th grade who struggle with attendance or staying engaged in class. ....

Duke Energy Foundation awards more than $311,000 in grants to support K-12 education initiatives in 15 Indiana counties

PLAINFIELD, Ind., March 17, 2021 /PRNewswire/ The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded $311,246 in grants to 22 different K-12 education programs in 15 Indiana counties for 2021.
The grants support summer reading programs; energy, engineering and environmental education programs; and programs that support under-represented, low-income or diverse audiences.
We all know many students missed out on several learning opportunities last year, said Stan Pinegar, Duke Energy state president for Indiana. I am proud that we are able to offer these grants to students in communities throughout our service territory with the hope of helping those students catch up, restore their passion for learning and encourage them to meet and exceed their educational goals. ....

Local education given boost via Duke Energy grants

INDIANAPOLIS (WTWO/WAWV) The Duke Energy Foundation on Tuesday approved 22 grants totaling $312,000 to support K-12 education across Indiana, with more than $70,000 coming to the Wabash Valley.
Grant recipients range from reading and STEM programs at local schools to educational camps offered by local organizations and colleges.
Duke Energy manager Rick Burger said these grants are important. That s the future of our workforce, not just Duke Energy but the workforce in our communities that we serve and we live in, he said. It s so important to keep these kids engaged and challenged, so we re preparing for the future of the workforce not just today but for the future too. ....
