Vietnamese movies reach out to global audiences Producers of Vietnamese films “Bo gia” (Old dad) and “Thien than ho menh” (The Guardian) have unveiled their plans for the overseas screening of the two movies. Accordingly, “Bo gia”, a comedy produced by Tran Thanh Town, will hit the cinemas in Singapore and Malaysia starting April 22, with its screening timeline in Thailand under discussion. The film has made itself a domestic blockbuster with 5.3 million tickets sold for 400 billion VND (17.3 million USD). It is about the life of a motorbike taxi driver living in Ho Chi Minh City who faces challenges earning money for his wife and children. Thua Thien Hue has witnessed a sudden influx of tourists, visiting the filming locations of movies like Mat Biec (Dreamy Eyes) and Gai Gia Lam Chieu 5 (The Last Egg 5). Nguyen Van Phuc, deputy director of the central province’s Department of Tourism, expressed his appreciation for the film crew who have selected the province as shooting locations, including that of Dreamy Eyes . Directed by Victor Vu, Dreamy Eyes was released in December 2019 and became one of the top 10 highest grossing movies of the year, reaching the VND100 billion ($4.3 million) mark within nine days. ....
