Work continues on Padiham flood scheme
The next step towards building Padiham’s £9 million flood scheme will start this week when ground investigation work begins on proposed sites.

• The Environment Agency will carry out the investigations at sites across the town with work expected to last 8 weeks
• Once completed, the scheme will better protect over 150 homes, businesses and key infrastructure in central Padiham as well as manage surface water risk on local highways.
Padiham’s multi-million pound flood risk management scheme is set to move a step closer to construction with ground investigation works commencing this week.
The Environment Agency will carry out the investigations including digging of trial pits and boreholes to identify foundations and underground services at sites across the town. ....

(AGENPARL) – LONDON (UNITED KINGDOM), mar 19 gennaio 2021
The work is being carried out on the land drainage outfall. These outfalls are designed to prevent back flow from the sea causing flooding inland during extremely high tides.
This work will better protect 25 homes which are included in the 20,000 properties that the Saltfleet and Gibraltar Point Strategy sets out to protect.
The project will take 8 weeks to complete and will reduce the risk of flooding similar to the tidal surge in December 2013 when the road and nearby properties were flooded.
The outfall upgrade will include the replacement of the existing gate, which will be closed when high water is forecast. The air vents that lead to the sea and prevent flood water escaping will also be raised to reduce the risk of overtopping. ....
