Whitehorse Emergency Shelter tightens measures in midst of COVID-19 outbreak
The shelter has locked its front doors and is only allowing people in when they need to access services after an outbreak was declared at the facility on Sunday.

Whitehorse Daily Star: Active cases at 124; hospital rules tighten


Twenty-two new cases were announced late Friday afternoon , with another 44 counted by Sunday afternoon.
There are now 124 active cases in the territory. Hanley now states this is the first true “wave” of COVID-19 in the Yukon.
The territory’s total case count is now 308. According to a news release, most are in Whitehorse.
One hundred and two individuals have recovered since June 1.
“COVID-19 is being widely transmitted throughout Yukon, primarily affecting unvaccinated people, and is now present in most Yukon communities. Eleven of 14 communities are home to COVID-19 positive people,” the statement said.
One of the major changes over the weekend involves child care facilities. ....

COVID-19: Ontario expands second dose eligibility; 210 new cases reported Monday

As of Monday, adults who received their first dose of an mRNA (Pfizer, Moderna) vaccine are  eligible for an accelerated appointment for a second dose.

Officials have said this will accelerate eligibility for approximately 1.5 million Ontarians.
Youth aged 12 to 17 are expected to be able to book a quicker second dose in August, so they can be fully vaccinated before school resumes.
Ontario has also been focusing on Delta variant “hot spots” by accelerating second doses in those areas, with more than 1,090,000 doses administered to people in Delta variant hot spots last week. ....
