Two months after an 83-year-old Asian woman was knocked unconscious in White Plains, the charges against the man arrested have been dropped.
Many in the local Asian American community say they are furious and are demanding answers.
News 12 s Karen Hua spoke with the victim s daughter and the county s top prosecutor about what happened.
In this case, the elderly woman s family and Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah agree the situation could have been handled better.

An 83-year-old Asian American woman was spat on and punched in the face in an unprovoked attack.
White Plains police arrested a man on charges of second-degree assault on a person 65 or older.
The woman said she was collecting bottles and cans when the assailant approached her.
New York authorities said an 83-year-old Korean American woman was brutally assaulted as she collected bottles and cans, the latest in a stream of violent attacks against Asian Americans across the country.
Police in White Plains, New York, arrested 40-year-old Glenmore Nembhard on March 11, alleging he spat on the elderly woman and punched her in the face, knocking her unconscious in an unprovoked attack outside the Westchester Mall in White Plains. ....

Brenda Kreber was last seen in her White Plains home on Sept. 28, 1989, at the age of 40. The White Plains Police Department reopened her missing person’s case based on a recent discovery by DEP Police of a vehicle submerged in an upstate reservoir, matching the description of a vehicle relevant to the case.
Kerber s 1982 Ford Granada was recovered from the Muscoot Reservoir in late January. The vehicle, which was removed from the water by State Police and DEP Police personnel, was treated as evidence.
Apparent human remains were found in the vehicle, police say. Those remains were later confirmed to be Kreber. Police believe her death was suicide by drowning, People reports. ....

Former Teacher Sentenced For Sexually Abusing Student In Westchester

An ex-teacher in Westchester County has been sentenced and will register as a sexual offender after admitting to raping and sexually abusing a teenage student where he worked.
White Plains resident John Fraioli, age 35, a former New Rochelle High School teacher, pleaded guilty in October last year to criminal sexual act and rape after assaulting his teenage victim on more than one occasion inside the school building in 2019.
At the time of the sexual assaults, his victim was a student at the high school, where Fraioli was a teacher.
On Tuesday, Jan. 26, Westchester County District Attorney Miriam Rocah announced that Fraioli has been sentenced to six months of shock incarceration with 10 years of sex offender probation. He will also surrender his New York State teacher license and will be required to register as a sex offender. ....
