Kevin Koile - Sheridan Media Protect and serve may be the general motto of law enforcement agencies, but sometimes it’s helpful to meet with the public to find out how they can protect and serve better. On Thursday (July 22nd) Sheridan County Sheriff Allen Thompson and two of his deputies were in the town of Big Horn to meet with the public over some chips and dip. Sheriff Thompson says the various areas of Sheridan County have similarities and differences in terms of their needs and wants, but when it comes to the town of Big Horn and the surrounding area, there’s one thing missing when it comes to providing law enforcement.

Sheridan College announces 2021 distinguished alumni – Sheridan Media

Sheridan College has named Sheridan County Sheriff Allen Thompson as the 2021 Distinguished Alumni.  According to Sheridan College, the Distinguished Alumni awards allow the college an opportunity to profile students who have succeeded and serve their community and Sheridan College. The awards go to alumni who have earned an Associate’s degree or a Certificate of Completion in a non-degree program at Sheridan College. Honorees have demonstrated achievement in their chosen profession, service to the community, or outstanding contribution to Sheridan College. In a news release, Sheridan College celebrates Thompson and his achievements while showcasing the many reasons he has earned this distinguished award.

The decision to close Normative Services Inc., a program for youth with behavioral and emotional problems in Sheridan, Wyo., is “not in any way related to any issues or concerns with the care and high quality services provided,” Sequel officials said in a news release Wednesday. Instead, they said, they arrived at the decision after “an evaluation of viability” of the program.
