Friends are rallying around a family after a 6-year-old girl died in an accidental shooting in Shelby County.
A GoFundMe has been launched to help with the burial of Bella Callaway who was killed at a Maylene home Monday after her 3-year-old brother found an unsecured gun and it discharged.
Bella was taken to Shelby Baptist Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
The shooting happened on Goldilocks Lane in the Maylene community, according to Shelby County sheriff’s Maj. Clay Hammac. The shooting happened about 10:30 a.m. in the Longmeadow community at the home of Helena police officer. The officer was at work at the time, and it was not his duty weapon involved. Bella was not the officer’s child. ....

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A 6-year-old child has died after an accidental shooting by the 3-year-old sibling in Maylene in Shelby County.
Investigators confirmed a 3-year-old child accidentally shot a 6-year-old child Monday morning around 10:00. The initial investigation indicates the child used a firearm found in the residence.
The shooting happened on Goldilocks Lane in the Maylene Community. The child was taken to Shelby Baptist Medical Center.
Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego commented on the incident, stating, “This was a truly tragic morning for Shelby County. Our agency grieves with the family of this child.  I would like to thank the Alabaster Fire Department, County 17 Fire and Rescue, and Southeast Shelby Rescue for ....

SHELBY COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) - A 6-year-old child has died after an accidental shooting by the 3-year-old sibling in Maylene in Shelby County.
Investigators confirmed a 3-year-old child accidentally shot a 6-year-old child Monday around 10 a.m. The initial investigation indicates the child used a firearm found in the residence.
Police confirm the shooting happened at the home of a Helena police officer. The officer was not at the residence at the time of the shooting. A personal firearm was used, not department-issued equipment, according to police. ....

National Nurses Week concluded today, and folks at Shelby Baptist Medical Center created a unique way to remember all those who have served their communities.According to a news release, the Memorial Tree was planted to pay tribute to those who took care of those who needed medical attention during the COVID-19 pandemic.The tree was encircled with white roses and had a plaque that reads:“We place this tree in honor of loved ones lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, their families, and the health system team who cared for them.
