Bernie Madoff once led Cincinnati Stock Exchange

Madoff began his rise in Cincinnati by pioneering the first electronic-only computerized stock market exchange.
In the mid-1970s, Madoff headed the Cincinnati Stock Exchange, then located in the Dixie Terminal building on Fourth Street downtown, and installed a prototype automated stock trading system that allowed for buying and selling stocks by computer. That was a revolutionary idea for the time, when stock sales were handled face to face on the trading floor and allowed brokers to clear trades in minutes.
Within a few years, the exchange eliminated the physical trading floor completely, going all electronic.
The technology changes that Madoff instituted soon became widespread, and the need for regional exchanges disappeared. The Cincinnati Stock Exchange moved to Chicago in 1991 and became the National Stock Exchange in 2003. ....
