I don’t understand why Canadian news agencies are putting the spotlight on snowbirds, with regards to the new hotel quarantine restrictions. Snowbirds are travelling because they have money. What about those travelling for essential reasons?
I’m a student, and I need to go to the United States next month to write a standardized test that will allow me to study abroad. I don’t have $2,000 to spend on a hotel quarantine. Does the Canadian government expect me to put my future on hold for its badly executed restrictions? Maybe I should forsake my studies entirely? The federal government needs to outline some exemptions soon because, right now, this hotel quarantine is going to hurt more than help. ....

Seniors receive cheer from complete strangers

Everyone loves getting a card in the mail, but what if it came from a complete stranger?
Seniors all throughout Ottawa have been receiving well wishes this holiday season and it’s brightened up their days.
Bob Ford lives in at the Stirling Park Retirement Community. Out of the blue, he received a greeting card with a letter.
“I didn’t realize the significance of it, and how much I enjoyed it,” he tells CTV News Ottawa.
The card came from a complete stranger and was delivered by the staff at the retirement community.
“Wishing us well during the pandemic, and a bit about her family; and that they were living through this also,” Ford says. ....
