NORTH LAWRENCE, N.Y. (WWNY) - To learn how your food gets from farm to table, just turn on your computer.
The American Dairy Association North East is hosting virtual farm tours, including one on Stauffer Farms in North Lawrence.
Adam Bates, the farmer leading the lesson, says he’s had a passion for showing people around the farm since he was a kid.
“I just thought the farm was really, really cool. So, that’s why I wanted to show them what happened at the farm. But now I think it’s very important that people know where their food is coming from, that they know that their food is being produced to be the highest quality and be the safest product that it can be,” he said. ....

Stauffer Farms in North Lawrence hosting virtual dairy tour this week

NORTH LAWRENCE â From the milking parlor, Stauffer Farms is coming to an at-home screen near you.
The 3,800-cow dairy farm on County Route 54 is one of three farms hosting virtual tours this week through the American Dairy Association North East. The Dairy Association advocates for dairy farmers in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
This weekâs tours last up to an hour and are geared toward K-12 students, specifically fourth- through seventh-graders at Stauffer, but are viewable to anyone interested in learning directly from dairy farmers. The live-streamed video tour begins at noon Thursday.
On-site and virtual dairy farm tours for classrooms took off in 2018, but virtual tours âhave grown in popularityâ for in-school and at-home learners alike, according to the Dairy Association. St. Lawrence County students can tour North Lawrence farm virtually

NORTH LAWRENCE – Students can visit a local dairy farm without ever leaving their home or school when American Dairy Association North East teams up with Stauffer Farms to offer a free virtual farm tour.
Through the use of video technology, children can experience a dairy farm tour and learn directly from dairy farmers about their commitment to care for their cows and the land, and how nutritious milk is produced.
Stauffer Farms is one of three Northeast dairy farms to host virtual farm tours this spring. The North Country farm will host 4th through 7th grade students on Thursday, May 13 at noon. Tours are approximately 30 to 60 minutes long. ....

WNY dairy farm offering virtual tours for students in Grades 8-12

AVON, N.Y. Students in grades 8-12 are being offered a way to visit a WNY dairy farm without ever having to leave their home or school.
The American Dairy Association North East and Mulligan Farm of Avon are teaming up to offer a free virtual tour where students can learn directly from dairy farmers about their commitment to care for their cows and the land, and how nutritious milk is produced. The tour is set to take place Wednesday, May 12 at 1 PM. The tour is expected to last between 30-60 minutes.
“While we are unable to welcome guests to our farm, we are thrilled to be able to offer our on-farm experience to students virtually,” said dairy farmer and tour host Emilie Mulligan of Mulligan Farm. “During the tour, our guests will see how we care for our cows, and the environment, while contributing to our local communities.” ....

GardenShare Virtual Trivia Night planned April 16

CANTON There is still time to register for the GardenShare Virtual Trivia Night on April 16, at 7 p.m.
Proceeds of the event will support the many programs and initiatives that ensure food security and a vibrant food system in St. Lawrence County.
Virtual Trivia Night participants can look forward to testing their knowledge of food while supporting a great cause. Tickets are currently available for a $20 donation per person ($10 per student). Trivia Night will be hosted by Joe Keniston, who will challenge the food IQ of trivia participants.
