(WVIR) - Staunton school leaders passed a budget Monday night that includes employee raises and several new hires. Also, a couple of parents are asking for students to return to school full time. The Staunton School Board unanimously passed a $40.5 million budget for the 2022 school year. It includes a 4% raise for all school employees, plus an additional 2% for operations staff. The budget also contains 19 new positions to meet special education and ESL demands, custodial and maintenance needs for the bigger high school, and critical positions cut from last year’s budget. ....

(WHSV) - The main entrance of Gypsy Hill Park in Staunton will be closed through Friday evening at 5 p.m. as work continues on the parkâs historic restoration. The project was put on hold due to the pandemic, but crews are now moving into the final phase, which includes putting up a 41-foot iron sign that runs across the entire entrance. âRemove this rock, then theyâll be able to pour the foundation and concrete and steel rebar and then from that there will be a plate on top of that at ground level and thatâs what the new big sign bolts into,â Bill Frazier, the co-chair of the Gypsy Hill Park Historic Restoration Committee, said. ....
