The borough’s annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 3 was held in a virtual manner due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Incumbent Democratic councilmen Michael DiBenedetto and George Schnurr, the winning candidates in the November election, were sworn in to begin serving new three-year terms prior the meeting. The Australian Dollar (AUD) stabilised today following the release of the flash Australian Retail Sales data for November, which rose by 7% as Black Friday and Victoria’s reopening increased sales. Ben James, director of Quarterly Economy Wide Survey at ABS, commented on the data: ‘Victoria saw a large rise, up 21%, as retail stores experienced a full month of trade following the easing of coronavirus restrictions in that state. Excluding Victoria, retail sales rose 2.7%.’ ....
News Transcript News Briefs, Dec. 16 Freehold Borough officials have authorized a $46,377 increase in a contract that provides for the construction of a new water treatment plant on Waterworks Road. The new plant will serve Freehold Borough, but is in Freehold Township. Coppola Services Inc. was initially awarded a $7.83 million contract to complete the job. The $46,377 increase, which was approved by Borough Council members on Dec. 7, brings the contract for the new infrastructure to $7.88 million. Business Administrator Stephen Gallo explained that the change order came about because employees of Coppola Services discovered an abandoned well where the new treatment plant is being constructed. ....
