Annual ‘Tour of Somerville’ rescheduled to Labor Day

The Tour of Somerville, the oldest bicycle race in the country, is rescheduling the 2021 race from Memorial Day to Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6.
The Tour of Somerville was forced to cancel the 2020 race due to the coronavirus outbreak. The 2020 would have been the Tour’s 80th anniversary; having launched in 1940, by local bike shop owner, Pop Kugler.
“Memorial Day and the Tour of Somerville have been linked together ever since the first two winners, Furman Kugler of Somerville (1940, 1941) and Carl Anderson of Clifton, N.J. (1942), lost their lives during World War II, at which time the Tour was suspended for four years,” said Mike Malekoff, director of the Tour of Somerville. ....
