The public is invted to the Edmonds Waterfront Center on Sunday, Aug. 1 to help welcome the arrival of the Blue Heron Canoe Family, celebrating the Native American canoeing tradition.
The event, which runs from 2-5 p.m. Aug. 1, will include the sharing of prayer, ceremony, story, song and dance with the Blue Heron Canoe Family. On Monday, Aug. 2, the ceremonial launch of the Blue Heron Canoe begins at 9 a.m. through the sending of prayers and songs at the Edmonds Waterfront Center beach marking the beginning of a two-week paddle journey to the San Juan Islands. ....

During the weekly Snohomish County briefing on COVID-19, County Health Officer Dr. Chris Spitters announced Tuesday that effective immediately, the county is “putting a pause on the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.” The rationale, he said, comes from the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after their safety monitoring system captured six reports of Johnson & Johnson vaccine recipients experiencing blood clots.
All six cases involve a clot in the veins of the brain called a cerebral venous sinus thrombosis among U.S. women between the ages of 18 and 48. Symptoms materialized six to 13 days after they received the Johnson & Johnson vaccination. Spitters emphasized “that this effect appears to extremely rare – six cases with over almost 7 million dos ....

South County Fire is among 23 Snohomish County fire agencies participating in the effort to vaccinate communities against COVID-19 through the county’s Vaccine Taskforce.
Mass vaccination sites where Snohomish County fire agency staff are administering vaccine include the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe and Arlington Municipal Airport. Mobile vaccination units are also currently visiting adult family homes and high-risk communities throughout Snohomish County. Trained firefighters and other health care personnel are administering vaccines by appointment to residents eligible under Washington state’s vaccine phases. ....
