Lab testing for many local medical patients will be routed through a facility in Lenexa, Kansas in the near future.
Earlier this week Mercy s St. Louis-area headquarters announced a deal with New Jersey-based Quest Diagnostics that would change the way diagnostic lab services are administered in Mercy s operations in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, including Mercy facilities in Springfield and southwestern Missouri.
Mercy and Quest both declined to specify the terms of the deal when the News-Leader asked each organization. But the move was described as an all-cash asset transaction in a Monday news release.
Mercy would not answer News-Leader questions on whether the deal means any Springfield-area Mercy jobs would be added or lost, whether any Mercy employees would receive changes to their benefits packages, or whether patients seeking diagnostic tests would see quicker or slower test results from the Lenexa lab. ....
