Adventist News Network, the official news outlet of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, announced via Twitter that General Conference Treasurer Juan Rafael Prestol-Puesán is retiring:
“Juan R. Prestol-Puesan, treasurer of the General Conference, announced his retirement today: ‘It is with a blend of conviction and sadness that I communicate to you my intention to transition to retirement effective August 1, 2021.’”
Prestol-Puesán was elected GC Treasurer at the 2015 General Conference Session in San Antonio, Texas. His denominational service began in 1969 when he worked as an accountant in the Dominican Conference, located in his hometown of Santo Domingo. He became Treasurer of the North Dominican Mission in 1972, then left to attend Andrews University, graduating with his MBA in 1980. He then went on to serve as treasurer of the Greater New York ....

Spectrum held by telecom operators cannot be transferred to new buyers under insolvency proceedings if government dues are not cleared, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) ruled on Tuesday, dealing a blow to lenders to bankrupt telcos Reliance Communications Ltd (RCom), Aircel Group and Videocon Telecommunications Ltd.
The appellate tribunal clarified that spectrum, which is an intangible asset of a telecom company, can be subjected to insolvency proceedings or liquidation. However, telcos cannot use or transfer the airwaves under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC) without settling government dues. ....

Reliance Jio buys Bharti Airtel's 800 MHz spectrum in Andhra, Delhi and Mumbai circles

Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (RJIL) on Tuesday said it has entered into a definitive agreement with Bharti Airtel Limited for acquisition of right to use spectrum in the 800 MHz band in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi and Mumbai circles through spectrum trading.
Jio signed an agreement with Airtel to aacquire some of the latter’s spectrum in the 800 MHz band in the three telecom circles, totally valued at Rs1,497 crore.
As part of the agreement, Airtel would receive Rs1,038 crore from Jio for the proposed transfer. In addition, Jio will also assume the future liabilities of Rs459 crore relating to the spectrum. ....

Denis Kaiser, Ph.D., has been named the new editor of the ongoing Adventist Biography Series, one of the most ambitious publishing projects in Seventh-day Adventist history. Kaiser is a specialist in Adventist history and a professor at the Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He will be assuming leadership of the series with the retirement of George Knight, Ph.D., who has served as series editor for the past 20 years.
