SBP asks banks to rationalise loan fee
Applicants applying for housing loans are being charged exorbitant processing fee
KARACHI:
Pakistan’s central bank has taken notice of exorbitant application processing fee charged by commercial banks and development finance institutions (DFIs) for the much-hyped government’s subsidised loans for low-cost housing.
It has also observed that financial institutions are unduly delaying the processing of applications.
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has directed the banks and DFIs to improve their behaviour towards customers and asked them to issue an e-tracking code to each applicant so they could check the status of their applications and know whether it has been approved or rejected. ....

BEIJING Chinese prosecutors charged 12,163 individuals involved in 5,847 cases of intellectual property rights (IPR) infringement in 2020, the Supreme People s Procuratorate (SPP) said Sunday.
Among the 5,847 cases, 94.2 percent were trademark infringements, the SPP noted.
Last year, procuratorial organs nationwide approved the arrest of 7,155 suspects for IPR infringement, the SPP added.

EUR/USD is having a rare day in negative territory. Currently, the pair is trading at 1.2006, down 0.24% on the day.
The euro has been in fine form in April, racking up gains of 2.3%. The currency has made up most of the ground lost in March when EUR/USD fell by 2.8%. The direction of the US dollar has, to a large degree, been dependent on 10-year US Treasury yields. In March, yields moved higher and provided the dollar with a lift. Conversely, with yields retreating in April, the dollar has suffered broad losses.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) has kept falling during the current fiscal as it declined by 35 per cent at the end of the third quarter, reflecting no improvement in the situation for investors.
According to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data issued on Monday, the FDI fell by 35.1pc to $1.395 billion during July-March FY21 compared to $2.15bn in the same period of last fiscal.
The inflow in March was just $167.6 million compared to $278.7m in the same month of last year a decline of 40pc.
However, as the inflow in March this year slightly improved compared to February when the inflow was $155m, the FDI trend shows that the overall trend is on the decline. ....
