Hanford alumni create online wellness satire magazine

HANFORD â The downtime of COVID-19 has led to much innovation over the last 11 months. Exhibit A is The Glowt, an online wellness satire magazine designed to make readers laugh and escape the dull reality of pandemic life, even if just for a couple moments.
Emily Wentworth, Tegan Silva and Jennifer Bouslog, the co-founders and masterminds behind the magazine found themselves with extra time last March and the urge to create something new.
Wentworth was laid off from her job and Silva was furloughed. The two Hanford High School alumni, who graduated in 2005, developed their humor through a friendship stretching back to the fifth grade. ....

For Keith Jefferson, owner of Jeffersonâs Hotwings, the concept is simple â they make delicious wings.
âWe specialize in wings, different flavors and itâs a locally-owned, family-ran operation,â Jefferson said.
Jeffersonâs Hotwings offers a dozen different wing flavors, including Caribbean Jerk, Lemon Pepper and Garlic Parmesan. When I took a visit to try their wings â for research purposes of course â I had the Original Hot and Sweet Chili, which I was told was âslept on.â
Both batches of wings were tender, juicy and full of flavor. One of my biggest gripes is when you order wings and theyâre barely tossed in sauce. Iâm happy to say that Jeffersonâs Hotwings did not fit into that category. ....

Hanford City Council to reject Mata's claim | News

HANFORD â The Hanford City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday and is set to reject a claim that Community Development Director Darlene Mata made against the city.
Mata was seeking a settlement payment of $1.25 million from the city, as well as conflicts of interest and council member roles/responsibilities training for all council members, after alleging former council member Art Brieno subjected her to a hostile work environment and unlawful workplace conduct, including gender harassment.
Brieno resigned from his position on the council during a Jan. 26 closed session meeting about the claim.
According to the agenda, city staff recommends council reject Mataâs claim and direct the City Attorney s office and staff to send a notice of rejection of the claim. ....
