Partnership Formed to Establish Interact Clubs at CCPS Middle Schools

The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville and Christian County Public Schools are coming together to establish Interact Clubs in the district’s two middle schools beginning next school year. School officials said Interact Clubs are extensions of local Rotary Clubs and seek to bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
The Hopkinsville Rotary Club board recently approached Superintendent Chris Bentzel with the idea of helping fund the start-up of the clubs. The pilot clubs will focus on middle school programs for 7th and 8th graders with an eye toward launching high school clubs soon. ....

Hopkinsville Rotary Auction Raises Nearly $400,000

The Hopkinsville Rotary Club’s 71st Annual Auction raised just under $400,000 during this year’s six day run.
According to the final totals released by the club Rotarians sold 722 items to raise $90,816 during the auction. In addition the Diner and Sweet Shop raised $28,447 and the Hour and Goat Club brought in $276,569. The final total for the 2021 Rotary auction was $397,832.
2021 Auction Chairman Cody Noffsinger says the generosity of the community will continue to go toward helping the youth of Christian County. ....

Two nights are left in the 71st WHOP Rotary Radio Auction and plans have already been announced this week for new ways the club will make a difference in local young people’s lives.
Middle and high schools presented their fundraising totals last night, with the middle schools giving $2,014 and high schools contributing $6,175 to the auction. The school system’s central office had their own fundraising campaign and gave $1,350.
As a whole, Christian County’s public and private schools gave $29,400 to Rotary.
Auction Chair Cody Noffsinger says the newly formed Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation is committing $75,000 over five years to establish inter-act clubs in local middle schools. ....

Hopkinsville Rotary Auction Continuing Strong Pace

The Hopkinsville Rotary Club celebrated elementary schools across Christian County Wednesday night.
During the third night of the auction, chair Cody Noffsinger said the schools presented $19,952 to the club.
Superintendent Chris Bentzel took a pie to the face Wednesday, as the middle and high school donations will be presented Thursday night.
The club sold 116 items Wednesday for $9,782, the diner and sweet shop brought in nearly $5,800, and hour/goat club donations added $26,217 to the auction total. After three days, the overall total is $138,522.
Noffsinger said Thursday and Friday nights; they will have some dinner specials. ....

City council meets new HPD officer, discusses water rates, Kindred Holdings

The Hopkinsville City Council met Tuesday for its second meeting of April in council chambers to discuss ordinances, municipal orders, appointments to the Non-Partisan Elections Citizens Committee with a pinning ceremony for new Hopkinsville Police Department officer Jarrit Beasley.
The 24-year-old officer, from Paris, Tennessee was hired to the department during the middle of the coronavirus pandemic and has worked for the police department as a Public Safety Officer before he was sworn in at the meeting.
Beasley was taking classes under HPD Chief Clayton Sumner at Hopkinsville Community College which is where he showed interest in becoming a part of the department. ....
