Ohio not as red: Forty-five Ohio counties are on red alert for concern over the spread of coronavirus this week. That’s the lowest this number has been in months, Rich Exner reports. It was as high as 84 in parts of January and February. Meanwhile, the two-week case rate dropped sharply, to 155.6 cases per 100,000 residents, down from 200 just two weeks ago, the state health department reported Thursday. ....

A man accused of killing a Springdale police officer after ramming his car into her vehicle has now pleaded guilty.Terry Blankenship, 43, pleaded guilty Friday to an aggravated murder charge in connection to the death of Officer Kaia Grant last March. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 30 years.There was a clear intent to kill a police officer on March 21, 2020, as police tried to stop a suspect who was considered armed and dangerous, according to the Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters.Deters believes Springdale Officer Kaia Grant was murdered on purpose by Blankenship, saying he intentionally swerved his truck towards Grant as the chase came to a deadly end.She and Sgt. Andy Davis had parked their marked patrol vehicles along the side of I-275, just west of State Route 4.According to the investigation, they got out of their vehi ....

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati City Councilman Wendell Young entered a written plea of not guilty Thursday to a felony tampering with records charge ahead of his arraignment Friday.
He also received permission from a special prosecutor to waive his first court appearance at 8:30 a.m. Friday and will remain free on his own recognizance, court records show.
The case is scheduled to return to court for a scheduling conference May 12 before Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Ruehlman, other court documents state. ....

GREEN TOWNSHIP â The trial of Rev. Geoff Drew is scheduled to begin Monday, nearly 21 months after Cincinnati police officers arrested the Catholic priest for raping an altar boy decades ago.
The victim was 10 when Drew began sexually assaulting the child, according to charging documents in the case.
Drew, 59, is charged with 9 counts of rape. He faces life in prison, if convicted.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A special prosecutor tells FOX19 NOW he plans to ask the Ohio Supreme Court to initiate suspension proceedings against Cincinnati City Councilman Wendell Young following his felony indictment.
“I think so. You have an elected official who committed a felony. It’s just appropriate he be suspended,” Patrick Hanley said Wednesday morning.
Hanley said he plans to file motions with the Ohio Supreme Court either this week or next week for sure to begin that process.
Under state law, Ohio Supreme Court Chief Justice Maureen O’Connor would then appoint a panel of judges to review evidence in the case and decide whether to suspend Young. ....
