Today, Andy Fillmore, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities and Member of Parliament for Halifax, on behalf of the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Zach Churchill, Minister of Health and Wellness, announced funding for six projects that will renovate and rehabilitate several hospitals and medical facilities to improve COVID-19 safety measures.

Nova Scotia grants 18-month extension for work to begin on commercial spaceport

HALIFAX
The company planing to build Canada s first spaceport in northeastern Nova Scotia has been granted an 18-month extension to begin construction.
Nova Scotia s Environment Department confirmed Wednesday it had granted the extension request by Maritime Launch Services on Monday.
Maritime Launch Services is expected to satisfy all conditions of the environmental assessment approval that are required to be completed in advance of project commencement by Dec. 3, 2022, at the latest, the department said in an email.
Nova Scotia s government originally set a deadline of this June when it granted conditional environmental approval for the project in 2019.
The proposed site is near Canso, on the northeastern tip of mainland Nova Scotia. Maritime Launch Services chose the location because of its remoteness and access to a desired due south trajectory to put satellites into orbit. ....

Labrador woman scraped up and needed a stitch after mysterious owl attack

When Carly Blake first felt the thing plow into the back of her head, she thought someone had thrown a chunk of firewood at her. But when she stopped and lifted her head, she saw a big bird swooping away, she says.
It turned out to be a great horned owl, and it had been skulking around in the trees for a few days, according to David Wolfrey, a conservation officer for the Nunatsiavut government in Rigolet, N.L.
I had a couple people call me and told me they heard of someone getting attacked by an owl, Wolfrey said in an interview Tuesday. That s pretty rare. ....
